At Snake River Eye Associates, we feel that eye exams are an important part of your health care. A thorough eye exam should not only evaluate your vision, but should include a comprehensive examination of the health of your eyes, inside as well as outside.

Among other things, a yearly eye exam can also detect the first signs, or help in managing, systemic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Our eye exams include the following:

- Functional testing (visual acuity, color and depth perception, etc.)

- Refraction (eyeglass prescription)

- Tonometry (pressure testing for glaucoma)

- Slit lamp biomicroscopy (see photo above)

- Retinal examination

Additional special testing may be necessary and may be performed at your initial visit or scheduled for a later time. Educating our patients on exam findings, corrective lens options, disease management and the need for special testing is an important component of the care we provide so we discuss special testing considerations with our patients prior to performing any additional procedures.

Excellent contact lens options are also now available for most patients.
